Established in 1953, China ENFI Ropeway Engineering Department is the first aerial ropeway design discipline in China. In the 1950s and 1960s, the department was mainly involved in material ropeway design and built more than 30 material ropeways of different patterns both domestic and abroad. Since the 1970s, the department began the passenger ropeway design and built the first passenger ropeway in China in 1979—Tieling Microwave Station Passenger Ropeway in LiaoningProvince. Up to now, more than 100 passenger ropeways covering 28 provinces, cities and autonomous regions were built by the department on Mount Tai, Huang Mountain, Hua Mountain, Emei Mountain, Song Mountain, Qingchui Peak of Chengde, Zhangjiajie, Guiping West Hill in Guangxi Province, Gushan Mountain in Fuzhou, Wuxi in Jiangshu Province, Moshan Mountain in Wuhan, Hailuo Channel on Gongga Mountain in Sichuan Province, Panshan Mountain in Tianjin, Lu Mountain in Liaoning, Yabuli Ski Center in Heilongjiang Province, Tianchi Lake in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Yakeshi of Inner Mongolia, etc. Construction of these ropeways laid down a sound foundation for passenger ropeway development in China and made active contributions to Chinese tourism. |
